To further promote the science park's innovation abilities, Zhongguancun recently launched a "1+4" financing system to support targeted projects, including major frontier technology project, innovation platform and business incubation center.

Meanwhile, innovation enthusiasm of Zhongguancun based enterprises has increased with a growing number of investments in innovation. In 2016, 657,000 people from Zhongguancun enterprises are working in science and technology area, occupying 26.5 percent of total employees. Some 197.24 billion yuan ($30.14 billion) have been spent in enterprises’ science and technology activities, a year on year increase of 11.1 percent.

Zhongguancun-based leading enterprises have spent more on improving their strength. In the first half of 2016, large scale enterprises with investment of above 10 million yuan spent 31.70 billion yuan in science and technology activities, a year on year increase of 12.7 percent.

In accordance to recent released statistics, Zhongguancun has made big contribution to Beijing's economic development. In 2016, Zhongguancun realized a total income of 4,600 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.8 percent. In the same year, the science park made a value added of 625.41 billion yuan, occupying 25.1 percent of Beijing's gross value of production.

In a bid to take a leading place in the country's innovation industry, Zhongguancun-based enterprises have also tried to develop in the areas out of Beijing, setting 12,068 branches. Technological mergers and acquisitions is a new way to improve innovation ability.

Last year, enterprises in Zhongguancun made 256 acquisitions. NSFOCUS, a global service provider and DDoS mitigation solutions provider, purchased Apollo Cloud, integrating its internet safety technology with Apollo Cloud’s advantages in basic networking.

According to statistics, Zhongguancun has also become more and more attractive to international innovation talents. By the end of 2013, around 30,000 overseas returned students and 9,779 foreign employees were working in Zhongguancun. A total of 1,188 Zhongguancun employees have entered Thousand Talents program, occupying 20 percent of the country's all Thousand Talents enterers.

To promote its strengthen in overseas countries, Zhongguancun has also established a special industry promotion association and encouraged its enterprises to provide science and technology services to countries along the Belt and Road. For instance, Shenwu Technology Group has provided technological services such as garbage disposal to over 20 foreign countries.
