The 2018 MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (MIT-CHIEF) was successfully held in Beijing's Zhongguancun Life Science Park on June 26.

Sponsored by Zhongguancun Development Group (ZDG) and MIT-CHIEF (a non-profit student organization), the summit invited over 100 government officials, renowned investors and enterprise representatives.

"The summit is an open platform for in-depth cooperation between Zhongguancun investors and American researchers who are committed to medicine and computer science," said Zhang Zhe, assistant to the general manager of the ZDG, during his speech.

The cooperation agreement will endow the life science park with the most vigorous innovative elements from around the world, and more importantly, pair Chinese investors with the most promising start-up projects, added Zhang.

As the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up coincides with Zhongguancun's 30th birthday, the national innovation and technology hub is seeing an increasingly strong momentum in absorbing international technology resources.

Li Chengtao, chairman of MIT-CHIEF, noted that his organization has been carrying out joint programs with ZDG since 2016.

"This year, with 15 selected US-based startups, MIT-CHIEF will join hands with Zhongguancun in a series of roadshows concerning a wide spectrum of frontier sectors, such as artificial intelligence, biomedical science and financial big data," said Li.

During the summit, the two parties also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote academic exchanges and mutually beneficial collaboration in aspects of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In addition, two work stations were launched shortly after the signing ceremony. They are located respectively in Zhongguancun-Boston Innovation Center and ZGC Innovation Center @Silicon Valley, marking another milestone in Zhongguancun's "bringing-in policy", opening a fast lane for tailor-made incubation services.

Jose Amich, founder of medical technology company Z Imaging — one of the 15 startups mentioned above, expressed his determination to get to know the Chinese market and find the right investor for his team.
