With the market of full-screen smart phones flourishing, the under-screen fingerprint recognition technology has become the standard equipment for high-end flagship phones.
Recently, BOE has adopted the on-screen fingerprint recognition technology that can be applied in the field of AMOLED display, bringing a better experience to full-screen phone users.
Currently, under-screen fingerprint recognition has become the mainstream of screen fingerprint technology. The under-screen recognition technology developed by BOE adopts the theory of pinhole imaging to enhance resolution and make the screen-to-body ratio higher.
Compared to other optical under-screen fingerprint recognition technologies, the resolution of BOE technologies has reached 800PPI. The effective detection rate of fake fingerprints is as high as 99.3 percent, which is not only safe, but also suitable for wet fingers, high and low temperatures, strong lighting, screen film and other environment.
Meanwhile, because the optical path modulation unit is integrated inside the display, the design of smart phones can be made lighter and thinner. In addition, BOE's new technology also supports full-screen fingerprint recognition. The light paths are distributed over the entire display screen, enabling under-screen fingerprint unlocking and payment on the full screen.
With greater push towards full-screen, bezel-less displays and advances in fingerprint sensing technology in new phones, shipments of screen fingerprint modules are expected to increase significantly.
According to the latest report released by IHS Markit, a total of 18 mobile phone models have adopted the display fingerprint technology by the end of 2018. The total shipment of screen fingerprint modules reached 30 million in 2018. The shipment of screen fingerprints is expected to increase sixfold in 2019, reaching nearly 180 million.
