‘Spark’ event accelerates transformation of sci-tech achievements
The 52nd Spark event of Zhongguancun was recently held online, attracting a number of entrepreneurs, incubators, and investors.
In May of last year, the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee officially launched the Spark activity for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements at the 2019 National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week.
The activity serves as a bridge between scientific and technological achievements of universities and investors, incubators or entrepreneurs, to promote the market application of research results.
The gStore graph database, the aiXcoder-intelligent programming robot, and AI-aided improvement of radiotherapy and allocation of medical resources -- all these sci-tech achievements from Peking University were demonstrated at the first Spark event.
After the CAR-T project of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University(CMU) was unveiled at a Spark event, it was favored by many investors and incubators.
The project manager soon signed an intention to invest 20 million yuan ($2.86 million) with a medical professional fund, and the project was invited by the Changping International Precision Medicine Acceleration Center to settle in.
Like that of CMU, the bionic smart expectations project was developed by the team of Li Qian from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has attracted many investment institutions and companies after making its debut at a Spark online roadshow.
With regards to the 50 million yuan of financing in the project, investment terms are being negotiated and completion documents are expected to be signed in the near future.
To date, 52 Spark activities have been held, introducing over 270 high-quality sci-tech achievements and early transformation projects.
These events have helped six projects to obtain 226 million yuan of investment intention. Seventy-nine other projects are under negotiation with an investment of about 537 million yuan and 84 have been connected with large and medium-sized enterprises for R&D cooperation and technology transfer. Eight cooperative projects have attracted contracts valued at a total of 65.6 million yuan.
