New technologies and experiences on full display
This year's China International Fair for Trade in Services, or CIFTIS, held in Beijing between Sept 4-9, showcases the latest technological achievements from around the world, providing attendees with a host of new technologies, models and experiences.
Fu Wenjun, deputy director of the Science and Technology Service Industry and Culture and Technology Division under the Beijing Science and Technology Commission, said the fair focuses on artificial intelligence, 5G, virtual reality and other new technological applications, developed by Tsinghua University, Megvii Technology and other universities and technology enterprises. It has set up 5G bases, service robots and autonomous cars to provide high-level technical support for the entire operation of the 2020 CIFTIS.
One of the eight themed exhibitions, the Service Robots and Intelligent Technology Exhibition, displays the latest products and applications of global robotics and AI enterprises, which is composed of smart home, logistics, health, business and environment, covering many working and living scenarios of the future.
Robots for sorting garbage, conducting surgery, cooking, rehabilitation and others have caught the attention of participants at the fair.
An intelligent barista robot named Da Bai displayed by Beijing Orion Star Technology can make a cup of coffee in 3 minutes and 8 seconds. The robot unveiled at the 2020 CIFTIS can provide about 1,000 cups of hand-made coffee for visitors per day.
According to Liang Liang, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the development trend in service robots related to people's daily lives is more rapid than that of industrial robots.
The robot exhibition attracts overseas companies from Switzerland, Japan, the United States, Israel and other countries and regions.
"We welcome global advanced technologies and products to China's huge market through the CIFTIS, which is expected to become a key platform for international exchanges, cooperation and commerce," Liang said.
A large number of products and technologies are making their debuts at the fair.
Beijing Moviebook Technology, a digital media company, showcased a new self-developed AI image interactive platform. Beijing-based interactive creative solutions design company K-Design released a new immersive mind interaction technology based on brain wave data analysis. And Terminus, an international AI services provider, showcased its Titan patrol robot.
One of the biggest differences in this year's CIFTIS is that it is held both offline and online.
The cloud CIFTIS include an exhibition, which has attracted Chinese information technology company Xiaomi, US-based electric vehicle maker Tesla and other companies. In addition, the online event also covers summits and business talks.
The online fair also provides exhibitors with private negotiation rooms that allow instant message, video chat, featured translation, intelligent custom services and other tools to meet the demands from exhibitors.
This year's CIFTIS also utilizes face recognition and mobile infrared temperature measurement to ensure safety during the pandemic prevention and control period.
