The Design Town Innovation Center, situated near the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, officially opened on Dec 24.

To date, 106 science and technology enterprises have settled in the innovation center.

Located in Zhangjiawan Industrial Zone and adjacent to the Central Green and Universal Parks, the design town is an important support area for the development of industries in the city's sub-center.

The Innovation Center is located in the northwest corner of the town. As the design town's pioneering zone, it is the first park in the design town that takes urban technology and innovative design as its industrial focus.

It covers an area of 150,000 square meters, with a planned total construction area of 240,000 square meters, including 26 office and support buildings.

By the end of November, the registered enterprises of the Innovation Center had realized a cumulative tax revenue of nearly 28 million yuan.

In terms of industrial resource introduction, 106 settled urban technology and innovative design companies (73 of which were registered in 2020) specialize in 5G R&D, artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, innovative design and other fields.

After these enterprises enter the center, they will become an important force for optimizing the "high-tech" industrial structure of Tongzhou Park and enhancing the innovation capabilities of the sub-center.

In terms of smart service capacity building, the smart park building of the Innovation Center has been incorporated into the sub-center's first batch of technology application scenarios, and seven application scenarios - including a smart financial center, smart security, and smart conference - have been completed in advance. A smart park is thus taking shape.

With regards to the industrial development environment, the design town has been included in both the national service industry expansion pilot zone and the Beijing Free Trade Zone international business service area. These "two zones" will bring excellent opportunities for the development of the town.

The Design Town Innovation Center is the first innovative design and urban science and technology characteristic industrial park to be jointly created by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Beijing's sub-center.

It will continue to explore and innovate in the construction of application scenarios and the development of industrial alliances. The center will build a series of platforms in urban technology and design, the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and other fields to inject new vitality into the design town.

Next, the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Tongzhou District Government will focus on the construction of design towns.

They will support urban technology companies in the town to demonstrate the application of cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, energy conservation and environmental protection in the sub-center, and support the research and development of game-changing technologies, core technologies and major generic technologies.

The Innovation Center will thus be transformed into a smart park with smart investment, industrial analysis, smart operation, smart security and other smart service capabilities for replication and promotion.
