The China Association for Science and Technology held the annual work conference of 2020 "Innovation China" on Jan 18, 2021. The Open Source Ecology project of Zhongguancun Software Park was selected at the event as a typical case of "Science Innovation China" pilot construction.

On May 29, 2020, before the fourth "National Science and Technology Workers' Day", 25 representatives of scientific and technological workers were encouraged to enhance their confidence in innovation, focus on the task of tackling key core technologies, and promote the integration of enterprises, universities and research institutions.

Soon after, "Innovation China" was officially launched on May 30. Twenty-six pilot cities or parks were selected, of which Zhongguancun Software Park was the only park ranked.

Currently, global software and information technology are showing a new development trend: Open Source Ecology has become the cradle of many core technologies.

After two decades of innovation and development, Zhongguancun Software Park has gathered many leading open source and core technology companies in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things.

Baidu's PaddlePaddle deep learning open source framework, Tencent's Open source technologies such as Tencent Cloud Tstack, Didi's shared travel technology, Lenovo's LeapAI.com-industrial Internet platform, and Easystar's ESCloud+-open source PaaS platform have all attained a certain degree of influence in the industry.

Since being selected as the first batch of pilot institutions of "Innovation China", Zhongguancun Software Park has taken "building an open source ecosystem" as its core task.

Based on platforms such as the Source of Innovation Competition and the Zhongguancun 5G Innovation Application Competition, Zhongguancun Software Park has built a project pool covering more than 10,000 projects, and tracks high-quality ones.

The park has supported over 30 projects including the SAI Computing Center, Microwave Medical Imaging, RISC-V and unmanned vehicles, which have settled in the "Innovation China" open source innovation demonstration base or carried out demonstration applications.

Meanwhile, a Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park High-Growth Fund of 500 million yuan ($ 77.4 million) was established to guide the implementation of open source innovations with equity investment in the new generation of information technology fields such as artificial intelligence, 5G and chips.

To promote the integration of enterprises of different sizes, in 2020, Zhongguancun Software Park organized four innovation acceleration camps to allow outstanding technical teams to communicate face-to-face with leading companies such as Baidu and Inspur.

Zhongguancun Software Park also continues to promote the construction of smart application scenarios.

On the one hand, it strengthens the layout of the park's new-generation infrastructure such as AI + big data and  5G + edge computing platforms, and builds AI standard evaluation and data sharing platforms.

On the other hand, the park creates 10 real application scenarios such as unmanned driving and connection, public park safety, unmanned distribution, and a cloud digital marketing platform, linking more than 30 types of smart facilities in the park and connecting 16 business systems to provide a testing ground for cutting-edge technologies.
