During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, the industrial internet industry in Zhongguancun Science Park has achieved agglomeration development.

In the following paragraphs we will introduce industrial internet technologies that can empower traditional industries.

Activate core technologies, dredge the 'industrial nerve'

The "Intewell" industrial internet operating system developed by Kyland uses software to define the production process and control system. The automatic defect detection and identification solutions provided by the system have greatly improved the production efficiency and product quality of Sino-Microelectronics.

"With the help of CAXA 3D entity design for high-speed and accurate modeling and collaborative design, the output model is directly used for production and processing. The prototype of the new stringer came out in less than four months," noted Bai Wenbin, manager of the R&D department at XN Automation.

Having independently developed a series of software products covering digital design (CAD), product life cycle management (PLM) and digital manufacturing (MES), CAXA now has more than 330 trademarks, patents, patent applications and copyrights.

Another enterprise, Sysware, promotes the construction of China's independent "industrial Android" platform, which has accumulated the largest number of industrial interconnection apps in China, shortening the average R&D and production cycle of users by 60 percent and reducing costs by 40 percent.

As of December 2020, Zhongguancun Science Park ranked first in China in terms of the total number of key technology patent applications in the fields of industrial internet networks, platforms, security and signs.

Leading cloud services empower "digital intelligence"

By the end of 2020, UFIDA had served more than 600,000 industrial enterprises, connected 869,000 sets of industrial equipment in 15 categories, connected more than 3,000 industrial models and micro-service components, and was selected for the "2020 list of cross-industry and cross-domain industrial internet platforms" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The "Cloudiip Platform," developed by another Zhongguancun company, Oriental Guoxin, has served thousands of large enterprises in more than 50 countries worldwide.

The platform currently covers 29 major industrial sectors (including steel, cement, photovoltaic, nuclear power, coal, etc.) and has built sub-platforms for more than 20 applications.

On the other hand, Zhongguancun has attracted many leading enterprises in the manufacturing industry, especially central government-owned enterprises, which aim to deploy innovative businesses in Beijing.

According to statistics from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, a total of 21 state-owned enterprises across the country have established industrial internet platforms, of which more than half of the platforms are built in Zhongguancun.

Corporate champion takes the lead to complete industrial system

Located in the Zhongguancun Yizhuang Park, the Xiaomi Smart Factory, which covers an area of 18,600 square meters, uses 5G networks, robots, big data, cloud service platforms and other technologies, with fully automated production lines.

Smart production without human intervention can be achieved without even turning on lights in the factory.

In the past five years, Zhongguancun has formed a complete industrial internet industry system, gathering a number of leading companies in industrial internet platforms and subdivisions such as Xiaomi, JD and Baidu, among others, to lead the high-quality development of the industrial chain.

According to statistics from the Industrial Internet Industry Alliance, as of December 2020, the Zhongguancun Industrial Internet Industry had more than 520 enterprises, institutions, universities and scientific research institutes, accounting for about 30 percent of the alliance's total membership.
