In the past seven years, the pace of collaborative innovation between Zhongguancun and Tianjin and Hebei has been accelerating, and the powerful radiating role of Beijing's innovation ecosystem has become increasingly prominent.

Talents and services are introduced. Officials familiar with the construction of Beijing's innovative ecology and professional teams with rich experience in the operation of science and technology parks have successively come to Tianjin and Hebei.

Connection channels of resources have opened up. Online and offline exchange meetings, and online matchmaking conferences continue to be held.

Companies and technologies have arrived. High-tech companies that have the need to expand their markets, space and demonstrated applications are arriving one after another.

Tianjin Binhai-Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park has accumulated more than 2,000 registered enterprises since its inception; Baodi-Beijing-Tianjin Zhongguancun Science and Technology City has signed 27 project investment agreements, with a total investment of approximately 16.3 billion yuan ($2.51 billion).

The Baoding·Zhongguancun Innovation Center has attracted nearly 400 well-known enterprises and institutions, such as the Tongyuan Institute and Zhongchuang Yanyuan, and the accumulative R&D investment of the settled enterprises exceeds 100 million yuan.

Last November, the Zhongguancun Enterprise Centralized Office Area in Xiong’an New District, with a total office area of approximately 30,000 square meters, was unveiled.

Ten companies including Xiongan Xuedilong Environmental Technology Co Ltd and Xiongan Oriental Yuhong Construction Technology Co Ltd were among the first to sign contracts and settle in.

As of the end of last year, Zhongguancun enterprises had set up 8,816 affiliated agencies in Tianjin and Hebei, including 3969 branches and 4847 subsidiaries. The total transaction volume of technology contracts exported from Beijing to Tianjin and Hebei exceeded 140 billion yuan.

Over the past seven years, coordinated development has brought about continuous improvement in the overall innovation capabilities of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, which has resulted in an opportunity to promote the high-quality development of urban agglomerations around the capital.

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Collaborative Innovation Index (2020) recently released by the Capital Development Research Institute of Peking University shows that taking the time period from 2013 to 2018 as an example, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Collaborative Innovation Index has increased by more than 4 times, and the number of cooperative patents in the three places has increased by nearly 50 percent.
