Chinese tech heavyweight Lenovo Group Ltd unveiled its latest commercial tablets to meet growing demand for productivity tools in remote work, digital production, smart retail and other application scenarios in the post-pandemic era.

The move came after Lenovo secured the No 1 spot in the commercial tablet market in China for three consecutive quarters. It is also part of Lenovo's broader efforts to pounce at opportunities from the commercial internet of things market.

Wang Liping, vice-president of Lenovo Group and general manager of commercial business at Lenovo China, said commercial tablets, featuring large screens, easy portability, suitable computing power, multiple sensors and the integration of software and hardware, will become a new generation of productivity tools for thousands of industries.

Lenovo's commercial tablet business has joined with nearly 400 partners to create a stable cooperation ecological alliance. Currently, it has stocked more than 262 tablet scenario solutions, and implemented more than a thousand successful cases of commercial tablet software and hardware solutions. With the help of partners, Lenovo's commercial tablet business has accumulated commercial solutions for smart education, digital governance, smart healthcare, smart finance, smart manufacturing, new retail and other industries.

Wang's comments came as Lenovo secured the No1 spot in the commercial tablet market in China for three consecutive quarters, with a market share of 23.9 percent most recently.

In the post-epidemic era, the market's demand for smart terminal devices such as tablets continues to grow. Market research company International Data Corp has predicted China's smart terminal equipment market will reach $105 billion in 2021. With the rapid development of 5G, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and other technologies, China's IoT market is ushering in a new wave of development.

Accompanying this trend is the rapid growth of the tablet market. According to data from IDC, the global tablet market in 2021 is expected to see a 1.8 percent year-on-year growth in shipments, and the tablet market in China will see an 8.3 percent year-on-year growth in shipments.

Lenovo said as one of the few brands that focus on the commercial tablet segment, it not only provides key intelligent IoT hardware equipment, but also becomes a service and solution provider, forming a "trinity" integration of hardware, software, and services.
