The leading group of Zhongguancun Science Park recently issued the "Development and Construction Plan" of the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

The plan clearly states that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, a new journey to comprehensively build a socialist modern country will be launched, and the park will continue to promote quality, efficiency and driving force reforms of economic development, accelerate the construction of a modern economic system, and put forward higher requirements for scientific and technological innovation.

The plan also formulates a two-step development goal for 2025 and 2035. 

By 2025, the Zhongguancun Science Park will take the lead in building a world-leading science and technology park, providing strong support for Beijing to form an international science and technology innovation center.

Seven tasks will be focused on during the 14th Five-Year Plan period:

• Enhance the ability for independent innovation.

• Deepen pilot reforms and create a world-class innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

• Promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and create a global innovation and entrepreneurship highland.

• Strengthen the leadership of the digital economy and build a world-class innovative industrial cluster.

• Promote the coordinated development of "One District and Multi Parks" and enhance the leading role of the parks.

• Recruit talents from around the world.

• Integrate into the global innovation network and build an open Zhongguancun.
