11th China-Italy Innovation Cooperation Week kicks off

The 11th China-Italy Innovation Cooperation Week opened in Beijing, Rome, and Naples online and offline on Dec 11. 

Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang, Vice Minister Zhang Guangjun, and Italian University and Research Minister Maria Cristina Mesa attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

The event lasted for three days with the theme "jointly research and innovate, to better influence the future".

Its content included ministerial meetings, opening ceremonies, project signing ceremonies, four parallel forums in key areas of cooperation, and one-on-one meetings on China-Italy technological innovation projects.

The event attracted more than 500 representatives from 200 institutions in China and Italy to register and participate.

In four parallel forums, 36 representatives from universities, scientific research institutions and companies from China and Italy conducted in-depth discussions in key areas such as high-energy and celestial particle physics, advanced materials, smart manufacturing, green energy and smart grids. 

In addition, over 100 representatives from nearly 50 Chinese scientific and technological institutions held nearly 40 online one-on-one meetings with more than 80 representatives from nearly 40 Italian scientific and technological institutions.

As a brand event of Sino-Italian cooperation, the China-Italy Innovation Cooperation Week is held in turn in China and Italy every year and has been successfully held 10 times.

Since it was first held in 2010, China and Italy have achieved remarkable results in intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine, energy conservation and environmental protection, aerospace, agriculture and food safety, the green chemical industry, traditional Chinese medicine, semiconductor lighting and other fields through Innovation Cooperation Week. 

It has promoted more than 6,100 technical dockings between companies from both sides, and reached more than 1,050 cooperation agreements.
