Yizhuang Biomedical Park a rainforest for biopharmaceutical industry

Updated: Feb 15, 2023 L M S

Yizhuang Biomedical Park is in the Beijing E-Town with a total area of approximately 180,000 square meters. It was opened in October 2011 and has since attracted 340 technology-based companies, more than 50 top talents in the industry, over 200 elite PhDs, and more than 3,000 scientific research professionals. The park has formed an industrial cluster that focuses on new drug research and development, diagnostic reagents, clinical testing, medical devices, and technical services.

In 2001, the bioengineering and pharmaceutical industry in Beijing E-Town achieved a production value of 667 million yuan. In 2008, Beijing E-Town was designated as the "Beijing National Biomedical Base." The industry accounted for 40 percent of the city's total pharmaceutical value.

The park actively builds public technology service platforms and pilot production workshops, aiming to solve the industry's common problems such as the time-consuming process of technology transformation and the high R&D costs of start-ups.

The park has built the E-Town BIO public technology service platform for biopharmaceuticals, covering various sectors in the production and R&D, including analysis and testing, process development, new drug pre-evaluation, pilot production, and registration application.

The platform covers an area of 10,000 square meters and is equipped with 2,000 professional instruments and equipment. So far, the platform has provided technical services more than 50,000 times to nearly 600 domestic companies.

In recent years, the park has been setting industry standards in terms of finance, talents, and intelligent construction.

Based on the exclusive brand identity of E-Town BIO, the park has established an investment mechanism for the "E-Town BIO Achievement Transformation Joint Innovation Laboratory", and has deepened its cooperation with institutions such as the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Medical School of Peking University, and the School of Life Sciences of Beijing Institute of Technology.
